Dr. Cara Slater
Dr. Cara Slater joined Naturopathic Physicians Group as a naturopathic medical doctor in 2017 after an extensive internship with Dr. Kyle Cronin. Dr. Slater (formerly Dr. Cara James) graduated with honors from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and received specialized training in acupuncture, botanical medicine, IV nutrient therapies, bioidentical hormone replacement, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) skin rejuvenation.
Dr. Slater offers naturopathic medical care to treat both new and lingering health issues and to help women feel their best, prevent disease, or prepare for a new phase of life. She treats the entire spectrum of symptoms and issues – hormone imbalances, acne, fatigue, PMS, pain – by finding the root cause and helping patients restore their bodies balance and heal naturally.
After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA in Spanish and International Affairs, she assisted at a women’s health clinic in Denver, Colorado and worked in healthcare as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) until beginning naturopathic medical school.
Dr. Slater worked as a medical volunteer with refugees in Thailand. She also worked at an HIV/AIDS treatment center in Costa Rica and on numerous trips to Mexico with Naturopaths Without Borders. She grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona and speaks spanish fluently. Both of her parents are naturopathic physicians.
“I believe in treating the whole person while educating and empowering patients to be advocates for their own health. Helping patients to look and feel their best, transitioning gracefully at each stage of life.”

“Dr. Slater is an extraordinarily well-informed physician who radiates positivity and encouragement. She truly listened to my concerns, helped me identify what blocked my health goals, and created a plan for me to succeed. Now I have more energy, and my mood has significantly improved. I couldn’t be more grateful.”
